- LiberalismBuilt around individual rights, the rule of law, free elections, free speech and a market economy, with a government limited by a constitution.
- ProgressivismPushes for social reform on every front: civil rights, environmental protection, reducing inequality and changing institutions it sees as unfair.
- Social DemocracyKeeps a capitalist market economy but tames it with a large welfare state, strong unions, progressive taxes and regulation, typical of the Nordic model.
- CentrismAvoids committing to the left or the right. Centrists judge policies case by case, look for compromise and are wary of radical change in any direction.
